27-Mar-2012 In Character News
We have recently learned that talks between the Cardassian government and the United Federation of Planets have ended in what a representative of the Vice President Newberry calls 'fruitful negotiations'.
The two delegations met on Bajor at Jalanda City's Regional Center in a series of group discussions with different representatives of each respected government to try and broker not only a lasting peace deal, but end the fighting that has currently engulfed the Cardassian planet of Valos III which is currently under attack by federation ground and starfleet forces.

USS Palamedes Goes Silent
17-Feb-2012 In Character News
THETA FLEET HEADQUARTERS - Starbase 52 (Ronin) The Office of Starfleet Operations reported that the largest ship in the fleet, the USS Palamedes, has been dark for the last 9 hours. Though many ships usually go weeks and months without contacting SFC, the unique nature of the Palamedes, its sheer size and resources, require constant updates to maintain and control the vessel.
Sent to investigate the disappearance of the USS Hullot, the Palamedes captained by Marco Blevin recently underwent major repairs due to a attack by friendly government who mistaken the ship as a pirate vessel.

15-Aug-2011 In Character News
With the Faust Administration's first term coming to a close, many are wondering exactly what is in-store for the sitting President as polls indicate that the head of the progressive party may have some problems in the primaries. Several major political figures that have been very vocal about her handling of the current Cardassian situation, and have expressed interest in a presidential run but only, if the President decided not to seek a second term. As it stands, President Faust would do better as a political powerhouse supporting a new progressive nominee than trying to convince voters to allow her to finish what she has started with the Cardassians.

Shards of Palaris: Faust's Approval Slipping
20-Jun-2011 Fleet News
"I for one don't believe it, I speak to the President and Vice President on a daily bases and there is nothing that promotes the tone of a disillusioned administration. Promises were made and President Faust was elected on her promise of action. I believe that when its all said and done, we will have the kind of action the federation is desperately asking for."
That was the Progressive Majority Leader Councilor Bachmen of Earth on news that the Faust Administration is looking to a alternative to full scale war with the Cardassian Union. Sources in the Palaris building say that the President has toned down the rhetoric of invasion with inquires to the Department of Defense in reguards to precision strikes against key Cardassian targets. These inquires come as no surprise with the President's approval rating dropping to its lowest point ever since her taking office. A staggering 67% of federation citizens believe the President's lack of action thus far is a sign of lots of hot air from the progressive party.
Its still unclear just how much is too much of a response to Cardassia, but as it stands, if something isn't done soon to solidify President's Faust base, she may have a tough time if any getting the nomination for re-election to the presidency.

Starfleet Security's' Department of Internal Affairs released a report today stating that the Captain Blevin had, for a short period of time, lost control of his ship. The end result was the death of several crew members and a high value federation prisoner. It was also discussed that the death of the Feringi prisoner, an executive, may have been the motive of the Captain after leaning of his pending release back to his own government.

Moments ago in a closed session of deliberation, the Federation Council of the United Federation of Planets voted on a measure present to them directly the President of the United Federation of Planets President Erin Faust. Though the resolution did not call for immediate war with the Cardassian Union, it did pave the way for military actions against the Star Empire with the support of Starfleet and the Federation Aerospace Force. This Day In History
12-Apr-2011 Fleet News
On April 12th, 1961, Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Alexseyevich Gagarin became the first human in space.
Most of us do not know a time without manned space flight. In the past 50 years we've gone from one man in space to a permanent space station. In the next50 years we hope to see a permanent colony on the moon and a manned mission to Mars.
Let us all take a moment to remember the sacrifices of men like Gagarin; Grissom, White and Chaffee (Apollo 1); Neal Armstrong and hundreds of men and women in the Cosmonaut and Astronaut programs.
Today also marks the 30th anniversary of the US Space Shuttle program. There have been five orbitals. Two were destroyed, one was mothballed. Later this year the shuttle program will end.
It is our hope that man's desire to reach the starts will keep the space progarm alive in one way or another.

April 1st News Item
1-Apr-2011 Fleet News
Dateline: April 1, 2011
A federal court has decided Paramount Pictures has the authority to require Star Trek fan fiction websites to pay royalties even if no income is generated.
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled unanimously Thursday in favor of Paramount Pictures, mandating that all Star Trek-themed fan fiction websites register with the film production company for the purpose of paying royalties based on policy to be later set by Paramount.
The decision was a blow to Star Trek fan fiction websites, commonly referred to as simulations or sims, which argued registration and royalties violate freedom of speech. In a 34-page opinion, the judges disagreed, saying “Star Trek” is a registered trademark, and therefore property of Paramount Pictures.
Immediately following the ruling, Paramount Pictures released a statement declaring that official policy will be finalized in four to six weeks. Since very few fan fiction websites generate income, Paramount is expected to charge royalties based on membership and participation. All affected websites that refuse to participate will be forced to choose a different theme.
Several major websites are expected to appeal the decision.
